Welcome to the JGS4/JG13/REBs 2 vs 2 Ladder Event! This event emphasizes
fun, fairness, practice and teamwork -- competition is secondary. We
are still in process of "working out the bugs" for this event,
so rule changes/clarifications may be required. Good Luck and Have Fun !
Ladder
Rules - 1. Teams will be placed into a "ladder" to help insure fairness (i.e. teams of similar capability will play each other more often), and to show the relative performance of each team. - 2. There will be 2 teams per ladder "rung". Teams on the same rung play each other in the next round. If there are an odd number of teams, or if a team drops out of the ladder, a "placeholder" will be added in place of the empty rung slot. - 3. In general, the winner of a match will move up one "rung" of the ladder. The loser of a match will move down one "rung". However, the top rung winner does not move up, and the bottom rung loser does not move down. - 4. The team on the same rung as a "placeholder" gets a "bye" round and an automatic win. The placeholder moves down a rung each round until it is at the bottom rung. - 5. When 2 placeholders are on the same rung, that rung may be eliminated. - 6. The initial
"seeding" of the ladder will be determined by the first teams
to participate. Teams moving "up" the ladder will choose whether
to start their next match as Allied or Hun. Newly "seeded"
teams may use a coin toss to determine who will fly as Allied for the
first game of the match. - 7. New teams entering the ladder may fill a "placeholder" slot, or will be added to a new bottom rung. - 8. If
the two teams do not play their match, the winner will be determined
by a coin toss (Airsurfer will do the coin toss). - 9. Any
team with 3 no shows in 3 consecutive matches will be removed from the
ladder (a "placeholder" will fill their slot).
- 10. The MMP server
will be set to NFM, ACE difficulty, TEAM MELEE mode, ISLAND map. Both
RSS and RBSMon will be used initially. RSS will be required until at
least May 15, 2004. If RBSMon proves to be reliable by May 15, we will
discontinue using RSS. - 11. Each match will consist of 3 consecutive games of 35 minutes each, with a 5 minute break in between games. Teams will switch sides (Allied and Hun) after each game. The 3rd and last game may be used for more training and practice -- please use this time, ideally, to provide tips, lessons, feedback to the other team to help us to become better pilots. - 12. Two predefined
red-boxed targets will change sides every 7 minutes. The
- 13. Each red-boxed target destroyed counts as 1 point. The team with the most points after 2 games wins the match. If after 2 games the match is tied, the 3rd game may be used as the tie breaker. If the match is still tied, the tie may be broken by a "coin toss". - 14. All aircraft
will be available, but only the Alb D3/D2, PD12, and N24/N17 - 15. Kills/deaths do not count for points. - 16. The lone red-box target at the beginning of each game will not count. - 17. DROME HOPPING IS ALLOWED. - 18. EXITING AT ANY TIME IS ALLOWED. - 19. One or two bombers may be used to attack targets. - 20. Each team
may consist of up to 3 players. Players may only be on one active team.
Teams may rotate team-members during a match. However, no substitutes
outside of team-members are allowed. Players from disbanded (inactive)
teams may join other teams or form new teams. Teams having 3 players
in a game simultaneously will lose 2 points per infringement.
Penalties - 21. Fighters strafing or destroying targets will not count -- these fighters will also be NETed out by RSS for at least 90 seconds. Fighters or bombers may strafe enemy aircraft on the runway. - 22. Rockets and bombs are not permitted for use on aircraft (even on the runway). If 2 players confirm this, the violating team will be penalized 2 points for each infringement. - 23. Smoking (Ctrl+S)
is not permitted. If 2 players confirm this, the violating team will
be penalized 2 points for each infringement. Scheduling
and Scores - 24. Each team will play one match every two weeks. - 25. It is up to
the teams to schedule their match times and reserve the server (the
team moving to a higher ladder rung should also post whether they will
start out flying as Allied or Hun). Match scheduling may be coordinated
by use of the KFZ Open forum linked at: http://usuarios.lycos.es/jasta32b/modules.php?name=Forums
. You can use the Open
Foro button at head of each page. - 27. It is up to
each team to keep track of their score during the match. Server - 28. It is up to each team to post (in the general forum linked above) or email Airsurfer with the winner of their match by Sunday midnight EST (at the end of the 2 week period), so that the ladder may be updated and teams have time to schedule their matches. Teams not posting their score will be treated as if they had not played their match (see #8 above). - 29. Server and
web site updates and maintenance will occur each Monday, so the server
might not be available on Mondays. LADDER'S EXAMPLE ------------------------------- Let's say there are 5 teams, and round 1 matchups are as follows: rung 1: team A vs team B and let's say teams A and C win. Then round 2 will have the following matchups: rung 1: team A vs team C Remember that the winning team at the top rung (rung 1) does not move up, and the loser of the bottom rung (rung 3) does not move down. The team on the same rung as a placeholder always wins (the placeholder always loses). So the ladder does not shrink or grow unless teams leave or join. I hope this made sense. Have Fun! :O) |
